We arrived in Newcastle Central Station around 4:30P.M. and got picked up by my friend Phil, who we would be staying with for the next few days. He took us to his house but had to go to training at 6 so unfortunately had to run out again. Shortly though, his Girlfriend Lyndsey got home from work and we had a nice chat with her. The next day we went into Newcastle to see what all the fuss was about, and found it to be a really great city filled with a cool shopping district and incredibly friendly people, even if it was a little on the chilly side.
On the last day we were there, Phil and Lyndsey took us to South Shields to see the seaside, and we were sure that on a sunny day it would have been beautiful to stay longer and enjoy the beach. After the excursion, we headed back to the house, and Phil got ready for his game. The game started out fine, with South Shields taking the lead around 10 minutes before the end of the first half and looking much the better side. It was around this point that it started to rain heavily, which spelled trouble. The second half came, Grantham Town equalized, and the match finished 1-1. Two soccer matches, and two draws that could well have been wins. It was really cool seeing Phil play, he is definitely one of the better players on his team.
